How was world war 1 a global war?/ Why and how did the Germans go to great lengths to detroy Great Britain?

World war ! was a global war because fighting consisted in many parts of the world including Africa, India, Asia, and even South America. Germans had ships all around war, even though they only had 17 compared to Britain's 80 war ships. Germany tried to attack land everywhere because Britain had colonies all around the war and they thought if they were able to shrink the British empire to just Britain then they would be able to conquer them more easily. Also they thought if they attacked Britain in other parts of the world then Britain would pull troops out of France to help out other places. Britain's greatest strength was they they had such a vast empire and the only way to bring them down was to attack their colonies.
